After having a tummy tuck operation, there will be scarring left behind. If the patient has already undergone a caesarean section, then these pre-existing scars may be merged with the new scar. The scar from the tummy tuck can take several months up to a year to fade.
Tummy Tuck Scar
The tummy tuck procedure will target loose saggy skin for removal in the aim of reshaping your body’s shape to give it a flatter abdomen between breasts and hips.

In a traditional tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, an incision will be made in the lower abdomen below the bellow button and up from the groin. The doctor will take steps to help minimize the presence and look of the scar.

However, steps taken during the recovery process can help minimize scarring. These include placing special tape across the scar to minimize tension, slowly resuming physical activity, and using a compression garment, abdominal binder or adhesive silicone sheet for several months post-operation.

If you have any concerns about what kind of scarring may result from a tummy tuck operation, don’t hesitate to discuss the matter before surgery with Dr. Levine.
